Friday 1 March 2013

March is here and Spring is in the air. Quite possibly my favourite time of the year. I love noticing the nights getting lighter and it’s always nice to turn up at gigs with the sun still shining (when it actually decides to make an appearance, that is).

As the release of my new album ‘Rise’ continues to remain on hold until some real funds appear, I’ve been working on my various musical side projects, as well as getting a few more gigs under my belt. Perhaps my biggest achievement so far this year relates to my side project ‘Silent Voice’ (my instrumental venture).  My first big step was being asked to write and record a piece of music for a short film called ’Final Call’. I’ll talk more about this at a later date as it’s still a little under wraps but you can find out a bit more by liking the film’s facebook page here:
Please give the page a like. Naturally I was flattered and very grateful to be asked to be part of this. It’s a brilliant little movie. As a result of this, I was inspired and fully charged and within ten days had written, recorded, mixed and mastered an entire ‘Silent Voice’ EP. I wasn’t planning to work on this project until later in the year and suddenly here we are in March with the finished product. I’m very happy with the end result. The planned release date is 1st April 2013 and, as always, it will be available from all good download stores including iTunes and Amazon.

I also plan to release singles by Clarence (Indie-Pop-Rock), AS2 (Synth-Pop) and, of course, the enigma that is Derek Wafer (Comedy Pop) during the coming months. All these songs have been written and the recording is well under way. I’m also close to finishing the Covers album ‘Interpretations‘, which will be released later in the year under my own name.

I’ve come up with a few ideas for possible promotional videos for ‘Can’t Let Go’, ‘Only For You’ and ‘Wake Up Call’, which are the three songs from the forthcoming album that I intend to release as singles. I’ve passed on these ideas to Leisure Riot Productions, who are the company I intend to use in making these videos.  Why not check out their YouTube page here:
I’m still getting the money together for these and, as I’ve said in previous blogs, need to shed a few more stone before I allow myself in front of a camera. On that subject, I’m pleased to report that so far I’ve managed to shed over two stone so far this year. I’m ashamed to say I weighed a hefty seventeen stone at Christmas. I want to get my weight down to twelve stone so I’m already nearly halfway there.

I shall leave you now as I’m about to blast some Michael Jackson out on iTunes for my children (they’ve become big fans of his with a little guidance from me). I’ll be back with more exciting news in the very near future. In the meantime, thanks for reading and I hope to see you at some of my forthcoming gigs (you can always find out where and when I’m playing by visiting my website below).

Bye for now.
